Challenge Based Learning Project Rubric

For this project, a conventional rubric will not work, since so many different approaches were taken.

This rubric will therefore be very general, and focus on aspects of the way you worked, rather than aspects of your finished product.

Do note that all of this will come down to a subjective judgement on the part of me, the teacher. But in the case of this project, it shouldn't be such a big deal since every single person did a great job. The only thing holding individuals back was absence.

Still, it can always be constructive to be be assessed and to self reflect based on that assessment. The following rubric should indicate areas where you were strong in this project, and areas where you could imporove. Furthermore, it will acknowledgeand positively reinforce above average work.

Aspect 1 - Mastery of the Software

This aspect assesses how well you learned and applied the software you used, either Maya, or Logic particularly.

Aspect 2 - Addressing of the Essential Question

Here, how well you applied your work toward the project's essential question will be assessed. Our big idea/essential question was to gain a better appreciation of our host country, the Czech Republic. In some cases this would have been easier, and in some cases harder. So also taken into consideration will be your contributions to the homework wikis and other in-class discussions related to the big idea/essential question.

Aspect 3 - Originality and Creativity AND/OR Efficiency

This is a tricky one, as some of you went off on your own and some of you followed my initial suggestions for applying the software. So this aspect will acknowledge creativity where it was employed, but also recognize good application of the good ideas offered from the start.

Aspect 4 - Collaboration AND/OR Independence

This is another aspect that depends on how you approached the project. If you naturally worked as a member of a team, that will be acknowledges. But if you chose to work on your own, that is fine too, and so you ability to do so in an independent way will be recognized.

Aspect 5 - Effort and Focus

The degree to which you had steady effort and good focus during your work is what this assesses.
